![]() Throughout IAC’s footprint in North Amrerica footprint, we are involved and engaged with our communities. IAC understands its importance to the communities in which it resides. We are dedicated to ensuring our employees, their families and neighbors are respected at a level we work hard to preserve. IAC’s Commitment to Advancing Education Educating today’s youth is a vital component of our future economic success. IAC understands this and is doing its part worldwide by meeting with local students in communities where IAC operates to share career opportunities that may be available to them in the automotive industry. IAC believes that on-site, or hands-on, learning offers a perfect outlet for students to learn, this is why IAC employees engage in visits to local schools to discuss automotive interiors and also hosts engineering, design and automotive classes at IAC facilities. In the U.S., IAC’s Troy Technical Center has hosted many local high school science workshops to help educate today’s youth on the technology and innovation behind automotive interiors. Through working with IAC employees, students have an opportunity to learn from experts in the field while having fun in an interactive environment. IAC’s goal for hosting facility tours/programs and visiting schools is to inspire students and serve as a stepping stone for the next generation of automotive enthusiasts, engineers and designers. Additionally, IAC recently began an award program in conjunction with “Ward’s Auto World’s” annual Interiors Conference that recognizes talents of the next generation of interior designers. Through this program, IAC hopes to introduce student designers to the importance of selecting environmentally compatible materials in vehicle design. Furthermore, IAC maintains an award-winning internship program. In April 2010, IAC was the recipient of the University of Michigan Dearborn College of Business’s “Outstanding Internship Employer.” Overall, the IAC internship program with U of M Dearborn has resulted in many full-time jobs. “We are at a hiring rate of greater than 35 percent, which is quite impressive and really speaks to the talent of the student interns available,” said Robbie Bryan, IAC’s vice president of human resources. Interns are given a great opportunity at IAC, as they are exposed to multiple career disciplines and experiences ranging from local plant experiences, to potential internships abroad and training programs that allow them to work in different departments with a rotational schedule. |
